Walk down Wythe and hang and right on Grand to find one of Brooklyn’s (heck, New York’s) finest source for a founder’s fuel: Devoción.

The moment you enter you’re struck by the size of the shop and the huge roaster on the right, where the fine folk of Devoción turn the green coffee beans into coffee gold.

The decor is wonderful and a generous sunroof sits above the communal area, drenching the shop in warmth and sunlight most of the day. The back wall is covered with plants, climbing all the way to the ceiling.

Devoción offer a wide array of caffeine-powered beverages, all made from Columbian beans. They offer 3 different beans for espresso-based drinks and every cup is made perfectly, in my humble opinion. To compliment the coffee, a small selection of pastries are available and, like the coffee, are prepared superbly (Sadly no gluten-free options are currently available). The croissants, in particular, are superb – light and airy.

Every day you will find their establishment filled with folk, meeting to discuss business. It seems that designers and startup peeps are always the most prevalent… but who can blame them? The wifi is fast and there are outlets everywhere. It’s like the holy trinity or a entrepreneur’s trifecta: free and fast internet, outlets for laptops and killer coffee.

  • Fast Wifi
  • Outlets
  • Great Columbian coffee
  • Top-notch croissants and other snacks
  • Great ambiance and natural lighting
  • Roast their own coffee – and brilliant at it
  • Super-friendly staff

  • Can get crowded on the weekends
  • Wifi turned off on weekends
  • No gluten-free options 🙁
  • Outlets

(ps: this is the first post of FoundersFuel, btw – hope you like the images we make for the headers. They’re made using VSCO cam, Over, Snapseed and Instagram. All on my ‘lil Apple iPhone 6s).
